For nearly 5 years BETAH operated WIN, an NIDDK information service established to provide the general public, health professionals, the media, and Congress with up-to-date, science-based information on obesity, weight control, physical activity, and related nutritional issues.
Under the contract with NIDDK, BETAH provided a variety of information dissemination activities, publications design and development, Web site maintenance, meeting support, outreach services, inquiry response, and the maintenance of a health information database. Promotion specialists conducted outreach activities and staffed the WIN exhibit at health fairs, trade shows, and professional meetings. BETAH also coordinated full-service warehousing services for WIN. Staff ensured all materials are received, inspected, inventoried with multiple layers of documentation, added to the WIN database, and shipped to customers appropriately.
Additionally, BETAH managed a mirror Web site, providing ready-made content for upload by the NIDDK Webmaster to the WIN Web site. Designers and Web specialists developed materials for WIN, and BETAH staff maintained communication with NIDDK to ensure that NIH procedures are followed. BETAH ensured that all WIN files were in compliance with Section 508 regulations.
